"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Rom 8:14

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" Acts 1:8

Peter was led to quote Joel 2:28-32 when describing the supernatural activity of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. BTW, the context of this great outpouring of the Spirit in Joel is "The Last Days". I believe this kind of activity will become more common as we approach "the day of the Lord".

Notice the criteria the 12 apostles used in selecting the seven assistants: "select from among you seven men confirmed to be full of the Spirit and wisdom." Stephen in particular was noted as "a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit." It was this same Stephen that "was full of grace and power, [and] was performing great wonders and signs among the people".

It makes for an interesting study to look at the many examples of the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit - see link below.

Perhaps one of the most comprehensive guides to the role of the Holy Spirit can be seen in John's description during the Upper Room Discourse (John 14, 15, 16).

"Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you." Jn 16:7
And in Jn 16:13 Jesus states: "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come".

The term "walk in the Spirit" is not just a figure of speech or a euphemism for following a biblical set of rules.  When we have a limited or impersonal view of the Holy Spirit we risk limiting or quenching the Spirit (1Thes 5:19). The Holy Spirit provides for the personal, "relationship" piece of the equation. And as in any relationship, it takes some time and dedication to learn how to recognize and discern what the Spirit is saying - "the Spirit himself testifies with our spirit..." (Rom 8:16).
