I suspect that one of the great stumbling blocks for people, as we approach the end of the age, will be reconciling these two aspects of Jesus the Messiah:
Jesus as the Lamb of God <--> Jesus as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah
John the Baptist, who came in the spirit and power of Elijah the prophet, said this about Jesus when he saw Him approaching the Jordan river:
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:27
But there is another apect to Jesus the Messiah. Jesus Himself, in His Revelation to John the apostle, begins to introduce the two-fold purpose of His first and second coming:
Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the One seated on the throne. It had writing on both sides and was sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?”
But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or look inside it. And I began to weep bitterly, because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or look inside it.
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Then I saw a Lamb who appeared to have been slain, standing in the center of the throne... And He came and took the scroll from the right hand of the One seated on the throne...
Rev 5:1-7
Then "the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb" and said:
“Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, because You were slain, and by Your blood You purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation...
Rev 5:9
This was followed by a chorus in heaven from many angels which said:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
Rev 5:12
At the end of the age, this Lamb of God, will take on the role of The Lion of the Tribe of Judah:
Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war. He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God.
The armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and pure, follow Him on white horses. And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
