"Iran has been here multiple times. The Green Revolution of 2009. Massive nationwide protests in 2019. Each time the regime cut the internet and began murdering the people in the streets. And eventually the protests died. Will this time be any different?" - Joel Richardson
Last night, hundreds of Basij militiamen commanded by IRGC officers joined Special Units of Iranian Police to brutally suppress anti-regime protests in Tehran.
There will come a time, I think likely in this generation, when the Lord will respond to insolence and despotism. Those passages are documented by the Prophets. It's become fashionable today to ignore, gut, or neuter these statements - stating they are figurative, and symbolic or examples of simile, metaphor, or hyperbole. I say bs.
These statements from the Prophets are sometimes preceded by the words "in that Day". What they describe is a short period of time - the "Day of the Lord" - when He will intervene!
Often these future events, which are so certain to happen, are referred to in the past tense as if they had already happened. There are many examples of fulfilled prophetic events described this way - see Isaiah 53. Many of the passages describing the "Day of the Lord" are also recorded this way. Bible scholars use the term "prophetic perfect tense" when describing them.
Passages like...
"God came from Teman,
and the Holy One from Mount Paran.
...
His glory covered the heavens,
and His praise filled the earth.
His radiance was like the sunlight;
rays flashed from His hand,
where His power is hidden.
Plague went before Him,
and fever followed in His steps.
He stood and measured the earth;
He looked and startled the nations;
the ancient mountains crumbled;
the perpetual hills collapsed.
...
You brandished Your bow;
You called for many arrows.
...
Sun and moon stood still
in their places
at the flash of Your flying arrows,
at the brightness of Your shining spear.
You marched across the earth with fury;
You threshed the nations in wrath.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people,
to save Your anointed.
You crushed the head of the house of the wicked
and stripped him from head to toe."
