I could be wrong, but I think the seals of Rev 6 have begun to break.
btw - there is nothing in the text that suggests these seals are confined to the time period of the final "seven years". That's an assumption. I believe the breaking of these seals are describing general conditions on the earth.

Ex. rider #2 is responsible for "taking away peace from the earth".
And when the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”
Then another horse went forth. It was bright red, and its rider was granted permission to take away peace from the earth and to make men slay one another. And he was given a great sword.
The assumption is that this means wide spread war. But that's not really what the text says. The widespread effects of war are not really felt until seal #4.
What is declared here is a widespread "removal of peace".
I can't think of a more appropriate description that describes the current polarity and division that exists across every spectrum.
