My deep condolences to Charlie Kirk's family at this time. I wish healing for those affected.
Though I suspect his murder will further polarise Americans. I'm starting to see evidence of that already.
He had strong feelings and convictions. I disagreed with some of them - particularly his position on Ukraine.
But remember that sensible, moral individuals don't use hate as a tool to settle differences.
- hate clouds judgement.
- it dehumanises the other side.
- it escalates, never resolves.
- it focuses on the person, not the problem.
- it corrodes the hater.
There is also one important distinction to consider.
A moral person can be angry at an injustice, an action, or an idea without hating the people involved.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
