Object Snap

This activity will provide you with the opportunity to practice using several of the object snap tools discussed.

Start AutoCAD 2000 LT and create a new file with the indicated drafting settings.

  • Units: Decimal
  • Drawing Area: 10 x 10.

Draw the following objects inside your drawing area using the absolute coordinates given. I've intentionally placed the objects in random locations off of any grid setting so that you are forced to use object snaps in the next portion of this activity.

When you are done, your drawing should look as follows:

img216.jpg (14191 bytes)

Create a new layer called snap and set the layer color to blue.

Next, I would like you to snap the following objects onto your drawing using the snap mode indicated. The new objects must belong to the snap layer. Do not eyeball the placement of the new objects. They must be snapped onto their correct location.

When you are done, your drawing should look as follows:

Save the drawing as "snap_modes" inside your Unit2 folder.
