I think most are familiar with the narrative of Jesus being a "gentle" (Isaiah 42:3), "suffering servant" (Isaiah 53), "riding on a donkey" (Matt 21:1-9). While all these aspects of His nature are true, they present only a partial picture of who He is. There is a significantly large volume of text detailing His role in the events surrounding the "Day of the Lord". These describe Jesus as a "conquering king". Below are just a few:

"Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war. He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God.

The armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and pure, follow Him on white horses. And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
(Rev 19:11-16)

The entire chapter of Habakkuk 3 provides a  detailed companion text to the Revelation 19 account  - excerpts below.

"God comes from Teman [south],
     And the Holy One from Mount Paran [Sinai]...
His radiance is like the sunlight;
     He has rays flashing from His hand...
Before Him goes pestilence,
     And plague comes after Him.
He stood and surveyed the earth;
     He looked and startled the nations...
In indignation You marched through the earth;
     In anger You trampled the nations.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people,
     For the salvation of Your anointed.
     You struck the head of the house of the evil
     To lay him open from thigh to neck."
