Here's an interesting interview on the subject of deconstruction. Many pastors in mainline church communities have warned against it and even shunned those who've undergone the process of deconstruction because it can lead to some fairly radical changes - like leaving their church community.
It's not the path to damnation that some have made it out to be. The process often does lead to knocking down some "sacred pillars" that have been erected through human tradition. It's funny how some of these things creep into "church cultures" over time.
I've gone through it myself. I believe many others are currently going through the process - though many silently. It can be a lonely experience. But I believe it's a necessary process. Especially during this time of shaking.
In this interview, Julie Roys of the Roys Report interviews Scott McKnight. Both Julie and Scott offer some insight into the process - and the result.
