Belarus is expected to complete its ascension to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) this year.
While BRICS focus is on economic cooperation. The SCO includes economic cooperation but with an emphasis on security (political/military cooperation). Some describe it as the anti-NATO.
Both organizations are fairly young.
India, who is a member of both partnerships, describes them as two sides of the same coin with one analyst stating that the two organizations will likely merge in the next five years.
I think that up until fairly recently BRICS and SCO expansion have been regarded as mostly benign.
But that's changing.
Considering the momentum and size, these entities may eventually form teeth.
